Cause Ammo ain't cheap baby- Spikes Tatical

Like the title says. Decided to go with a dedicated .22LR upper for my AR platform and training sked. Since I have gotten it, I have abused the hell out of it and keeps going. Fed it all kinds of crappy .22lr ammo, never cleaned it, and it is still a blast to shoot. Got a eotech to slap on it. The forearm is Yankee Hill Machine as well as the sights. I wanted it to be exactly like my regualr AR so teh training would be the same. The only downside is the bolt release has no function, you have to pull the charging handle out to release the bolt. And on the last shot, the bolt doesn't lock back. Oh yeah, the can is fake. Just for fun.

Sorry about the crappy pics. :D

Do you honestly think firing 22LR with zero kick and report is sufficient "training" for using the real thing?

not like a 223 has any kick - I want to grab a 22 upper for mine - nice cost saver.

What do the 22 uppers and mags go for?

Maybe not "sufficient", but certainly helpful.

Sights...trigger....sights...trigger...sights...tr igger

Be sure and clean all the unburned powder and lead crap out of your AR lower when you're done. .22's are dirty as hell.

good training to counter ingrained flinching though. I catch myself often shooting the 12 gauge. like, you know the hit's coming :p

It works for the US military at least during my time with Uncle Sam... Flinch with .223, really?

For 90%+... YES!

It's also a much bigger help to be able to get you to focus completely on your skills set and catch things you might not normally notice because of higher recoil.

Having a good .22lr rifle and pistol is a must IMO.

I bought this last week and shot it the past weekend.

I got the telescoping stock for it and SWEET, it's awesome. 300 + rounds with zero malfunctions and 5 shot grouping of 1.2 inch at 25 yards.

I bought it for a fun gun but with such accuracy and reliability, it's a great trainer as well. Yes the can is fake, it's actually just a shroud to make it look cooler. 22 round magazines are very easy to load as well and last shot bolt hold open.

WIll a HK S-E-F Navy style trigger group fit on that? You could REALLY have some fun then! :D Is the can real?

An upper from Spikes goes for around $550.00. I looked at getting a 10-22 since they were cheaper, but I like to train with the same kind of weapon that I use. The mags for it are black dog magazines and go for around $30.00. My upper was more than 550.00 b/c I added on sights, Yankee hill products, and a fake can. I also have a Sig .22lr conversion kit. I will dig that out as well once I find my camera.

No it won't fit and the can is actually just a barrel shroud.
